Resale and consignment platforms list your pieces individually and pay you when each one sells, which earns more per item but only for pieces buyers actually want. Very few pay cash on the spot, and they tend to be city-bound rather than nationwide. Most pay in store credit, wallet points or a bank transfer after a quality check, and consignment platforms pay only once your item sells. For ordinary used clothing sold by weight, the rate is low enough that convenience is usually the real reason to do it rather than the money. Individual resale is where the value sits: branded, occasion and barely-worn pieces can fetch a meaningful share of what they cost new. Selling returns value to you, whether that is cash, credit or a share of the sale price. Donating returns nothing to you and passes the full value to the cause or the person receiving the clothes. Check three things before you book: that the payout terms are written down somewhere you can point to, that there is a working contact number or support channel, and that recent reviews exist.
